What if I have a question about something?

What gemstones do you use?
Gems and Jewelry: In all cases brand name such as Preciosa and Swarovski and Czech glass are mentioned if used. If not named I have used a generic "crystal" or glass if I am not satisfied the item sold to me is actually an item such as a Swarovski crystal. This may happen when trying a new supplier. Generic (typically Chinese noname) crystals are lighter in weight as they contain less lead than Swarovski or Preciosa. The higher lead content is the reason the Swarovski crystals can be machine cut with such precision. Generic crystals, when well made are equally as lovely and much lighter in weight. When I am not sure of an items material or quality I will usually identify it as the lesser. ie "jade" as "glass" or "glass jade". Gemstones I commonly use are agate, carnelian, jasper, quartz, glass, crystal, jade, jadeite, new jade, aventurine, serpentine. I am phasing out of Swarovski brand crystals in favour of Preciosa and Chinese crystals and Czech glass in various finishes. Descriptives such as amethyst, turquoise are "color" names and not gem names. In all cases if such a gem is named it will be readily identified as such.

Who makes your items? What is SRAJD?
I make all my items myself from hand selected beads and materials. I am a Self Representing Artist in Jewelry Design. jo ohara #3383 ** As a Self Representing Artist in Jewelry Design (SRAJD) I adhere to the ethic of responsible representation and reasonable disclosure of materials used. Reasonable disclosure means to the best of my ability I will accurately identify and disclose materials used based on my own knowledge and research and information I have been provided with by suppliers. I do not label the quality of any gemstones as A, AA or AAA, AB etc. as there is no actual standard to determine exactly what any of them mean. They are subjective ratings.

Where do you do your craft?
I live and work in part of the North Pacific Rain Forest on Vancouver Island in my smoke free home with my pets. I eat peanuts, almonds and cashews. If you have any serious allergies or sensitivity please feel free to contact me regarding any possible exposure to those items. I do not use any toxic chemicals of any kind in my home or craft. I do not use any glues or adhesives of any kind.

What jewelry metals do you use?
Silver plated base metal, surgical steel, rhodium, pure copper (not plated) and pure bronze (phosphor-tarnish resistant)- nickel and lead free are all used in my jewelry. **All metals are identified when used. Other than rhodium which I can use for holding beads in earrings, all metals that I use will tarnish and "may" cause skin discoloration. This does not mean you have an allergy. **Please note hypoallergenic does not mean allergy proof! Nickel is the most common allergy culprit but some people have a sensitivity to silver and other metals. Copper itself is a pure metal and has no nickel. I use only pure copper and not copper plated steel.

What is rhodium?
Rhodium is related to platinum and is non tarnishing. It has a shiny finish but looks more like stainless steel than silver. I sometimes use rhodium headpins and eyepins for stringing gemstones and beads especially if using surgical steel earwires.

What do you use for silk painting?
My Silk is typically Habotai ( China silk). *** There are no mordants or toxic chemicals used in preparing and painting my silk fabrics. ** I use silk "paint" and not "dye". Currently I am using Setasilk by Pabeo and Dye na Flow by Jaquard. MSDS can be found here for those paints: ** http://www.jacquardproducts.com/_downloads/msds/MSDS_Dye_Na_Flow.pdf ** http://images.dharmatrading.com/images/public/pdf/msds/msds_DNF_Dye-Na-Flow-Silk-Paint-090723103706.pdf ** In addition I use synthetic brushes for painting and avoid natural hair brushes from wild caught squirrels or fur farmed sable. Other materials: Water based resist from vegetable matter. Non toxic.

Do you accept special orders?
I do accept "simple" orders of jewelry. I "may" accept an order for special wire work in copper. ****All custom orders are at my sole discretion based on materials on hand and my time constraints at any given time. A small non refundable deposit "may" be required. Please feel free to inquire and if I am able I will oblige.

Where is your Feedback?
Until I gather feedback for my eCrater shop you can get some idea of what I am like by viewing my feedback I have left for others and what they have left for me as a buyer from their shop. > http://sandbox.tools4etsy.com/Feedback/As-Buyer/IntoEwe?page=2 < I do not have an Etsy shop but have purchased there. I hope this might be helpful in establishing trust for your purchases.
